Opening Doors to Recovery
Door County Deflection is a voluntary program that offers community members with substance misuse concerns the opportunity to receive connections to resources, and services, at the earliest point possible to improve their recovery outcomes and mitigate risk of criminal justice system involvement.
What is a deflection program?
A deflection program is a community-based program that aims to help people with substance use or mental health issues avoid the criminal justice system. These programs typically provide early intervention and treatment options before an arrest or other justice system contact. Deflection programs are often partnerships between law enforcement, public health, and behavioral health organizations. They can involve a variety of professionals, such as peer support specialists, social workers, case managers, and clinical staff.
